Hi, my name is Jerry and I'm the face behind Walking Kansas. I'm an Army veteran and continue to work for the Army as a civil servant here in Kansas. In the summer of 2013 I found myself weighing 315 pounds, while somewhat healthy otherwise I knew it was time for major changes in my life. I started walking and changed my eating habits in a quest to get healthy. It's been almost two years and I'm down over 80 pounds and continue walking 30-40 miles each week. While not a native Kansan, I have found a love for the state after living here 25 years. I have a passion for the outdoors, nature, old farms, windmills, and old stone structures. I normally walk alone and most of my adventures are spur of the moment; however I do enjoy sharing the things I see and experience. I hope to encourage each of you to get out and enjoy the many things Kansas has to offer from fairs, rodeos, great attractions, beautiful state parks, and the historical sites scattered across the state. Maybe you'll see me walking around your town or our paths may cross on your favorite trail. I love meeting new people and still get a kick out of hearing "Hey, you're Walking Kansas!"
